Myanmar-Australia 2025 visiting fellowship recipients announced

The University of Melbourne Myanmar Research Network and The Australian National University Myanmar Research Centre are excited to announce two new visiting fellows as part of the Myanmar-Australia Fellowship Program in 2025. The program in 2025 is partly funded by the International Development Research Centre – Canada, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the University of Melbourne.
Su Mon Thant is an expert in conflict dynamics and democracy in Asia. She works as an Asia-Pacific Senior Analyst for the international organisation Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) where she has worked since 2021. She holds an MA in Politics and International Relations from Keele University (UK) and has researched Myanmar's politics and society for over a decade, including as an accredited observer of the 2015 and 2020 Myanmar elections. Her fellowship will be partly supported by the University of Melbourne’s Initiative for Peacebuilding. Su Mon Thant’s fellowship will be April-May.
Aung Ko Ko is the Executive Director of Mosaic Myanmar, a local civil society organisation dedicated to promoting community and social integration through education and advocacy. He holds a Master’s in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from Brandeis University in the US and is currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Aung Ko Ko’s fellowship will be in September.
